For those who haven't yet seen it, I've updated the seal links 6 posts above for Goran's IFAW video.

Goran is asking his friends to take a moment to visit this site on behalf if the IFAW to sign a petition to help put an end to seal hunting, and has asked me to post it as well.

Hi goran,

Can you believe this? The Canadian government is encouraging the slaughter of Canada's seals, and baby seals, at that?

It's true. Earlier this month, the Canadian government set the seal hunt quota to 400,000 seals in order to push the sale of seal products. Tell the Canadian government to end the seal hunt now! »

The Canadian government's logic is extremely backwards. They should be working to end this incredibly inhumane tradition that allows the clubbing young seals, nearly all of which are less than 3 months old, to death.

Worse, the seal hunt couldn't survive economically on its own; the Canadian government is using taxpayer money to subsidize the industry!

Let the Canadian government know that you want it to put an end to this horrible practice.»

Thanks for taking action!

Let's Make the Seal Hunt History!

Target: Canadian Government
Sponsored by: International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)

Canada's commercial seal hunt has reached a crucial moment.

The markets for seal products are disappearing. There are now seal product restrictions around the world, and the value of seal pelts has dropped dramatically -- from over $100 per pelt in 2006 to just $18 now.

However, the Canadian Government continues to subsidize the sealing industry with taxpayer money. They are planning to fight the EU's seal product ban in the WTO and, most baffling, they have set the annual seal hunt quote at 400,000 seals.

The Canadian Government isn't getting the message: the world doesn't want Canada's dead seals!
